It is the first day of May which usually is the start and finish of certain seasonal events such as prom, finals week, graduations, weddings, picnics, Mother's Day, and so much more. In our current "Stay at Home" state and with most businesses closed people are not only getting antsy, they are mourning lost jobs, lost moments, loss of family members, lost contact with friends and family, and loss of a sense of normalcy. Life does not always seem real and everyone seems to be on the edge more than they used to be. The important thing right now is to let ourselves feel everything, the good and the bad. When the restrictions are lifted, life will look a little different for all of us. One thing we can do is to show kindness to all as we do not know what each person is going through during this time.
While we all will feel sad or grieve during this time, however, if you are feeling too overwhelmed or more depressed, I encourage you to reach out for help: 24-hour Crisis Line, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call them at 1-877-727-4747.
The Department of Mental Health has a 24-hour Access line. Call them at 1-800-854-7771.
